In an interview with Telerama about the new "Steamboat" theatrical movie, Akira creator Katsushiro Otomo mentions that Catwoman director Pitof will be helming the big screen version.

The live-action Akira is about a biker gang who must stop a buddy from using the superhuman powers he acquired from a government experiment.

Stephen Norrington was previously attached to direct the movie.

    And I had been looking forward to a big screen adaptation of "Akira" for a looooong time...

    Now I'm not so sure I wan't to see it...
